  • Just 3 simple ingredients. You won’t need any hard-to-find ingredients to prepare this vegan milk. Just bananas, milk, and sugar are needed. No artificial flavoring or preservatives!
  • Ready in less than 5 minutes. This recipe is as simple as dumping all of the ingredients in a blender, blending, and serving with ice. Can it get any easier?

🍌 What Is Banana Milk

Banana milk (바나나맛 우유) is a popular Korean beverage that was first introduced by the brand Binggrae in 1974.

While the commercial brands contain dairy milk, sugar, and flavorings, this recipe requires just 3 natural ingredients! It’s much healthier and tastes even better!

Ingredients like bananas sugar, and milk.

🥛 Ingredient Notes

Here are the ingredients you will need to make this refreshing drink:

  • Bananas – Use ripe bananas for the best flavor. I don’t recommend using unripe bananas for two reasons. The first one is that it will lack sweetness and banana flavor. The second is that your milk will have a slimy consistency.
  • Plant-based milk – Any non-dairy milk will work. You can use almond, soy, oat, or cashew milk.
  • Sugar – To slightly sweeten the banana milk. You can use granulated sugar, coconut sugar, or maple syrup. If using sweetened milk, omit the sugar.
  • Vanilla extract – Optional. Vanilla extract adds extra sweetness and freshness. You can use store-bought vanilla extract or homemade vanilla extract.

🥣 How to Make It

Here is how to make it:

  1. Peel the banana and transfer it to a blender.
  2. Pour in the plant-based milk, water, sugar, and vanilla extract if using.
  3. Blend on high speed for 15-30 seconds or until smooth.

Note: I use a higher ratio of water to milk as I personally prefer a slightly thinner consistency. If you want the milk to be thicker, replace the water with milk.

🥞 How to Serve It

While this milk tastes fantastic on its own, you can also use it as a base to make oatmeal, waffles, or even pancakes. Simply replace the plant-based milk in those recipes with banana milk to add a delicious banana flavor!

📔 Tips

  • Adjust the sweetness to taste. Depending on the size and the ripeness of your bananas, you might have to adjust the amount of sugar.
  • Double the recipe. The recipe yields one serving, but you can easily double or triple it. It’s so good I doubt there will be leftovers!
  • Enjoy immediately. This milk is best served immediately as it will darken and start to separate after a few minutes.
  • Add texture. If you want to add extra texture to this milk, finely chop half of a banana and add it to the milk after blending.

It tastes like a lighter version of a banana milkshake.

How long can I keep this milk?

You can keep it for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator. Give it a shake before using as it tends to separate quickly.
